Tutoring and Mentoring

Tutoring can be a valuable resource for young girls in foster care. By providing academic support and guidance, tutoring can help young girls in foster care achieve their educational goals and improve their chances of success in the future.

Mentoring can provide supportive and stable relationships for young girls who may have experienced instability and trauma in their lives. Mentoring for children can have positive impacts on many targeted outcomes, including mental health, educational functioning and attainment, peer relationships, placement outcomes, and life satisfaction.
The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program

The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program applies to foster care.
According to the Alternative Education Foundations, a student is eligible for a scholarship from a nonprofit scholarship funding organization (SFO) through this program if:
-
The student is currently placed, or during the previous state fiscal year was placed, in foster care, OR
-
The student is eligible to enroll in kindergarten through 12th grade or has spent the prior school year in attendance at a Florida public school.
The Florida Department of Children and Families states that Florida’s children adopted from care are eligible for free tuition at any Florida state university, community college or vocational school in Florida up until age 28. This is another benefit for children in foster care who want to pursue higher education. 🎓
Financial Management

Teaching Financial Management to young girls in foster care is crucial for their future well-being and independence. Many of these girls face multiple challenges and disadvantages, such as unstable housing, low educational attainment, and lack of social support. With financial skills and knowledge, they will be able to manage their money, avoid debt, and plan for their future goals.

Financial education can empower them to make informed decisions, access resources, and achieve financial stability. Moreover, financial management can also boost their confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, which are essential for overcoming the traumas and hardships they have experienced.
We know that teaching financial management to young girls in foster care is not only a practical necessity, but also a positive intervention that can enhance their quality of life and opportunities.

Many of these young women face multiple barriers and disadvantages. Without adequate career guidance and preparation, they may struggle to find and keep a job, earn a living wage, and achieve their aspirations.
Godly Principles

Having Godly Principles is very important for young ladies. A Godly woman is a precious and priceless gift of God. A woman shapes the way people speak, behave and she even influence others. What makes a woman influential in a lasting and God honoring way is not her position, education, personality or background. The basis of her lasting influence is her character.
By having Godly principles, young ladies can develop a strong moral compass and a sense of purpose in life. They can learn to treat others with kindness, respect, and compassion, and to live their lives with integrity and honesty. Godly principles can help young ladies make wise decisions, avoid negative influences, and stay true to themselves and their beliefs.
Ultimately, Godly principles can help young ladies become the best version of themselves.
